The Brazilian Ministry of Finance will publish two new regulatory acts on July 10 to tighten oversight of the online betting sector. The measures introduce required risk warnings in advertisements and restrict promotional activities for unlicensed operators.
The first regulation requires all betting advertisements to display fixed risk notices. Operators must include statements such as "Betting leads to money loss", "Betting can cause addiction", and "Betting is not an investment". These disclosures follow the same framework applied to tobacco, alcohol, and pharmaceutical marketing.
Enforcement and Penalties for Unlicensed Platforms
The second document, developed jointly with the Ministry of Justice, targets unlicensed betting platforms. Companies without authorization will be barred from running advertisements, and media outlets will be prohibited from distributing their promotional content. Violations carry fines reaching 20 percent of company turnover, operational suspensions lasting up to 180 days, and license revocation for serious repeated offenses.Source: iGaming News.
