The Brazil Ministry of Finance announced the publication of over 25,000 documents regarding fixed-odds betting licenses. Minister Dario Durigan confirmed that these records will be available on the ministry website in the coming days.
The disclosure marks a policy shift after the government previously imposed a 100-year secrecy period on this data. Minister Durigan stated that the federal administration is moving away from withholding information. "My commitment, like President Lula’s commitment, is to provide transparency," Durigan said.
"This government is not a government of secrecy." The task force is working with the Comptroller General of the Union to accelerate the document availability.
Personal Data Processing
Before publication, all documents undergo processing to protect personal information and confidential data. Sensitive details will be redacted to comply with data protection legislation. This procedure aims to maintain transparency regarding administrative analyses while preserving individual privacy.
World Cup Oversight
Daniele Cardoso, head of the Secretary of Prizes and Betting (SPA), reported increased monitoring ahead of the FIFA World Cup. Authorities have held meetings with public prosecutors and Procons to enforce advertising rules under Law No. 14.790/2023. "We are reinforcing monitoring and oversight actions during the competition period," Cardoso explained.
Regulated agents received instructions on strict adherence to responsible gaming rules.
